Michael Gerald (Jerry) Huben, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the youngest of two children of Michael and Anna Huben, passed away at the age of 93 after a brief illness. Jerry was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania in 1921, and moved west to start work at Northrop Aircraft Company (now Northrop Grumman) in November 1941. He married Dorothy Withers in 1945 and they raised six children in the Westchester area of Los Angeles. By the time he retired in June 2009, Jerry's career as an aeronautical engineer spanned seven decades. Dorothy passed away in November 2013, but Jerry is survived by his daughters Kathleen (Joseph), Karen (Jack), Maureen (Randolph), Sharon (William), and sons Kevin (Mary) and Brian (Kathy), eight grandchildren (Joseph [Cherie], David, Colleen, Christopher, Brendan, Kelly, Kaitlin, and Mariana) and two great-grandchildren (Justin and Sara).
The family also extends its special thanks to Jerry's caregivers, Althea Osmond and Catherine Joy Smith, whose companionship and tender care will always be remembered and cherished.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on April 11, 2014 at the Church of the Visitation, located at 6561 West 88th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90045. A reception will follow at the Proud Bird restaurant located at 11022 Aviation Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90045. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northrop Grumman Michael G.
