Born in Syracuse, NY on November 20, 1948, Mary passed away February 9, 2013 at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital. A longtime resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, school teacher, and friend. After graduating from high school at Marymount in Santa Barbara, she attended and graduated from Pitzer College with a BA in Psychology in 1970. Her teaching career began after receiving her teaching credential from Claremont Graduate School in 1971. After moving to Minnesota for a short period of time, she and her husband moved back to California to Rancho Palos Verdes. She raised two children and then went back to teaching and taught second grade for 17 years at President Avenue School in Harbor City. In 2002, she was awarded commendations for Teacher of the Year. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international honors society for outstanding women educators, and earlier on, the Junior League. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Rob; daughter, Kitty; son-in-law, Dennis; grandchildren, Kayla and DJ; son, Robbie; sister-in-law, Susi; a niece, 2 nephews and other relatives and friends. The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday February 23rd at St. John Fischer Church in Rancho Palos Verdes.
