Marjorie Ann
Grouwinkel - Nooteboom

1932 - 2013

Marjorie Ann Grouwinkel (Nooteboom), a Manhattan Beach / San Clemente resident for sixty years, passed away peacefully July 8, 2013 on her 81st Birthday. Marjorie was born in Ames, Iowa in 1932. She married George Franklin Grouwinkel in 1951 and moved to Manhattan Beach, California. She was happily married to Frank Grouwinkel until his passing in 1990. She married Peter Nooteboom in 1994, which took her to San Clemente for the past decade of her life. She raised five children: Greg Grouwinkel, Nina Matthies (Dan), Kim Willeman (Larry), Cindy Jouras (Nick) and Ricky Grouwinkel (Karen). With five active children, the Grouwinkel home was always open to family, friends and guests. She enjoyed living near the ocean, watching her children play and coach sports and later in life, travelling to far away and exotic places. She was a successful artist and an exceptional sculptor. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves eleven grandchildren: Casey (Scott), Morgan (Meghan), Ashley (Aaron), Cameron, Marty, Haley, Cody, Kyle, Seychelle, Conor and Claire, and four great-grandchildren: Hayden, Kendall, Logan, Riley and arriving in August, great grandson Baby Dann. She is survived by her two sisters, Jan Miller and MaryLu Brooks. Preceding her in death are Frank, Peter, Ricky, her parents Steve and Lucille Brooks, her two brothers, Richard Brooks, Howard Brooks and a sister Betty Hawk. She wanted to be 81 years old, and she was. She wanted to dance, and she did. Marjorie was quite a woman and she will be greatly missed by all. Her room was filled with music and love when she passed. You are welcome to contact the family for information regarding her celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Alzheimer's Foundation. Please sign the guestbook
