Jane Ann
(Gladhill) Harris

Jane Ann (Gladhill) Harris was born on July 7, 1945 in Minnesota and as a young girl she moved to Hermosa Beach, California. A 1963 graduate of Redondo Union High School, Jane enjoyed moments with friends at the beach and at Fosters Freeze. While working in Passenger Service for Western Airlines she met and fell hopelessly in love with Bob Harris; they married six weeks later on February 17, 1966. Marriage brought children for which she devoted her time as Brownie Leader, Little League snack bar manager, family event organizer, etc. An interest in attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa - to learn from Pastor Chuck Smith - prompted a move to Fountain Valley, California in 1978. As the children grew, Jane reentered the workforce and served 10 years as HR director for CSI and 15 years as president of her Allstate Insurance agency before retirement in 2005. An active member of Huntington Beach Kiwanis International, Jane focused her community efforts on assisting children in need. Upon retirement, Jane and Bob moved to La Quinta, California. These years brought freedom for Jane to focus on the most important thing in her life: spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed McCallum theater events, country concerts, boating, planning dinner parties, hosting family pool parties, attending sporting events for her grandchildren, romantic getaways with Bob, fabulous girl getaways with her friends, baking, reading the Word of God, shopping with her daughter and writing her Memoir. Her inspiration: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5:16-18. She passed away in La Quinta on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband, Bob Harris; her children, Charles Harris, Ron Harris, Randy Harris, Debbie Sidler; her grandchildren, Joseph Harris, Rachel Harris, Ryanne Harris, Bryce Sidler, Berit Sidler; and her brother, James Gladhill, Jr. A celebration of life event is planned honoring Jane Harris this Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Palm Desert. CCPD meets on the same campus as Temple Sinai, 73251 Hovley Lane, Palm Desert, California 92211. The service begins at 2:00 p.m. with a supper reception immediately following wherein we will continue to share treasured memories of our beloved wife, mom, gramie and friend.
