Tymczyszyn, Gwendolyn Bade Hoofnagle
Gwendolyn Bade Hoofnagle Tymczyszyn Known to most as "Sease," died peacefully in her sleep, on August 30th in her home. Sease was born August 4, 1918, in Dawson Iowa, to Fern and Ruth Hoofnagle. Dawson was a small town of 240 people, and she grew up happy - busy between school plays, basketball, softball, piano lessons, saxophone in the band, violin in the orchestra, glee club and many church activities. Sease went to York College in Nebraska, where she discovered a love of chemistry. She transferred to Denver University, graduating with degrees in Science and Medical Technology. She was in charge of the laboratory in Greeley, Colorado, for sixteen months, then moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where she was in charge of the biology lab at Cantonment Hospital. She met her future husband at Denver University, and married Joseph John "Tym" Tymczyszyn on June 9, 1942. They moved to various places during the war, and when Tym went overseas, Sease moved back with her parents in Iowa, with their first son. She learned to play bridge and tennis. Sease and Tym had five sons, living in various places after the war, until settling in Westchester, CA, just north of LAX. Sease spent her time raising five boys, volunteering at the church, Little League, Y Wives, playing tennis and bridge. They moved to Rancho Palos Verdes in 1976. Sease continued her volunteer work with Saint John Fisher Church as a Stephen Minister and then as a secretary until she was 90. She spent many years volunteering at "Little Sisters of the Poor", until the majority of those she was serving were younger than she was! Sease is survived by her older sister, Dulcie Overmiller Robinson, and her children Joe, John, Bill, Bob and Jim Tymczyszyn. Her grandchildren include John G., John M., Scott, Jenn, Katie, Buddy, Hayley and Andy Tymczyszyn. Her great-grandchildren include Lucy and Jack Tymczyszyn and Lake Kirschenman. She is predeceased by her husband, Tym. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Sept. 5th, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 5448 Crest Rd. Rancho Palos Verdes, 90275. A following reception will be held at the Church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to "Little Sisters of the Poor," 2100 Western Ave., San Pedro, CA, 90732.
