Perez, Paul
Paul John Perez Paul John Perez, 82, passed away peacefully in his home, with his wife of 58 years, Barbara and son, Ron, by his side, after a valiant battle with cancer. Paul was born January 15, 1932 in Billings, Montana. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War he came to Los Angeles, where he attended UCLA. He ultimately settled in the Hollywood Riviera section of Torrance, where he resided for 47 years. Paul was a dedicated family man who spent his free time coaching his son's baseball teams at the Riviera Little League, where he served as its president. He also donated his time to the Hollywood Riviera Sportsman's Club, a local philanthropic organization, again serving as president. Later in life he found great joy in watching his grandchildren play soccer, attending so many games that he and Barbara were voted "Biggest Fans." Neighbors will remember him for his creative holiday-themed garden displays and the children's dinosaur garden. In addition to his wife, Barbara and son, Ron, Paul is survived by daughter-in-law, Andrea Perez; grandchildren, Rebecca and Paul; son, Rick and granddaughters, Crystal and Rain. He was a great husband, father and grandfather and man. We will miss his straightforward humor and indomitable spirit. The family asks to please consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Hollywood Riviera Sportsman's Club or the American Cancer Society/Torrance Relay for Life, c/o Paul Popovich, 5519 Calle de Arboles, Torrance, CA 90505. Pisano-Acosta, Susie
Susie Pisano-Acosta 62, passed away peacefully with her devoted children, Mark and Vanessa, by her side on November 9, 2014 after losing a long battle with cancer. Family and friends gave meaning to Susie's life. Born February 7, 1952 in San Pedro, California, her cherished moments were those she spent with the family who loved her most: her doting parents, Anthony and Eva, now deceased; the love of her life, Alex, who left her too soon; her precious children; her close-knit siblings, Chris (Stacy) Pisano, Terry Castillo, Carmela (Bob) Keeney and Antoniette (Joe) Origel; and a brood of nephews and nieces, including A.J. Pisano, Kelsi Creighton, Juli (Joe) Lyons, Steven Castillo, Allegra (Andrew) Frost, Jake Keeney, Ryan Origel, and Ashley (Nick) Farnham. Countless gatherings filled with laughter and love were shared by family and a multitude of friends at the home she lived in for the past 60 years. Susie's passion was her career. After graduating from Mary Star of the Sea High School and CSU Dominguez Hills, Susie began her career at StarKist Co., which soon flourished into a manager position at Nestle Corporation. To her coworkers she was known as the Queen B and valued her engaging personality, vast knowledge, mentoring nature and eagerness to help anyone who reached out to her. Her unyielding faith in God was evident to all who knew her especially during the challenging times she faced with her illness. The joy, kindness and love that filled her heart never wavered. In memory of Susie, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org . Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at McNerney's Mortuary from 4 pm-8 pm. The rosary prayer will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 at Holy Trinity Church at 9:30 am with the funeral Mass at 10 am. The interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
